6 books to read if you loved Big Little Lies

If you loved watching HBO’s Big Little Lies and are looking for more twisty psychological thrillers that pack plenty of surprises, I’ve got a list of six books you should read!

In addition to these six, I definitely recommend you also pick up Liane Moriarty’s The Husband’s Secret and What Alice Forgotthose are my two other faves she wrote.

RECOMENDATIONS

I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh

On a rainy afternoon, a mother’s life is shattered as her son slips from her grip and runs into the street…

This book will shock the hell out of you halfway through with a twist that changes everything you’ve read. Brilliantly plotted, suspenseful and emotional, this story will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The story follows a woman haunted by a tragic hit-and-run accident, as well as the investigators who try to get to the bottom of what happened the day a little boy lost his life.

The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena

A twisty, rollercoaster ride of lies, betrayal, and the secrets between husbands and wives. . .

Similar to Big Little Lies, the twists keep coming the more you learn about each character in the book. The story opens with two couples (neighbors) at a dinner party. One of the couples leaves their baby home, safe in her crib, after all they are only going next door and they’re checking on her every half hour. But as the night unravels and tensions rise, the baby goes missing.  Trust me when I say you won’t be able to put this book down with themes of deception and infidelity.

My Husband’s Wife by Jane Corry

Proving your past can come back to haunt you, this provocative and disturbing domestic thriller will take you on a ride. Full of shocking twists and turns, My Husband’s Wife draws you in with a bevy of flawed, unreliable characters and an ever-shifting narrative that only promises more secrets. The novel centers around a couple whose marriage frays when the wife takes a criminal case she becomes too close to, and once a young Italian neighbor girl begins to frequent their home.

The story tangles together in ways unforeseen as years pass. You can’t help but flip page after page to see what happens next in this twisted tale of love, marriage and murder.

The Girl Before by JP Delaney

An enthralling psychological thriller that spins one woman’s seemingly good fortune, and another woman’s mysterious fate, through a kaleidoscope of duplicity, death, and deception.

The story unwinds from the perspectives of two women—Emma and Jane—each of whom lived at One Folgate Street. The home was designed by a famous architect obsessed with perfection. But then Jane—the latest tenant—discovers that Emma was tragically killed while living there. And as she digs into the circumstances of her death, she unearths troubling secrets and lies. What’s worse is that it becomes clear that Jane is making all the same choices Emma made… choices that could have led to her death.

Wonderfully clever, sinister and sharp. You won’t be able to put it down. Soon to be a film directed by Ron Howard.

Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough

A novel that takes the modern day love triangle and not only turns it on its head, but completely reinvents it in a way that will leave readers reeling.

I’ll tell you right now, the end will blow you away. This is the kind of story that drives you crazy in the best possible way. It’s so addictive because you are dying to see what happens next as the story twists and tangles tighter. The novel centers around a woman who kisses a good-looking man at a bar one night, only to discover it’s her new boss on Monday morning. Worse yet, a chance encounter makes her friends with his wife, and before long, things get way more complicated as she discovers things about David, her boss, that change everything.

The Widow by Fiona Barton – On sale for $1.99 on Kindle

An electrifying thriller that will take you into the dark spaces that exist between a husband and a wife.

A woman loses her husband—the prime suspect of a horrific crime (the kidnapping of a 2-year-old girl), and struggles with life after it all, especially as the media clamors for an interview. She seems to have been the perfect wife, but the more we learn, the more truths come into question on how much she really knew about it all, and about what really happened to 2-year-old Bella.

Twisted and fascinating with an unreliable narrator.
