My Review

I loved this novella. Loved how it made me feel. Loved reading about a romance long desired and finally realized. I felt happy and I reveled in the holiday magic the story embraced. Tiffany King’s writing is laced with truth and heart, making this novella sweet and moving, stirring up feelings that kept me captivated, devouring the story in a single sitting. The author managed to make me fall in love so completely with the main characters, their past, and now, their very witty and heartfelt present. This is a story about first crushes and dreams coming true.  A story of faith in love and happily ever afters. A story about how fate finally brought together two people that were meant to be.  So thus it begins with Jamie and Grant one wintry day aboard a plane …

“We were going to die. It was my worst fear. I was stuck in this metal death trap, about to meet death and I was still single.”

When Jamie finally relents to her mother’s requests to come home for Christmas, she boards the plane to fly back to Woodfalls but never in a million years did she expect to be (a) almost die and (b) run into her high-school crush. I’m talking THE guy. The guy that was her first love, the guy that she never did forget, and unfortunately the guy that didn’t like her back… an obvious conclusion derived from years of relentless teasing in school.

“My throat closed in one me the moment our eyes met, making the end of my statement come out as more of a gasp. Cute wasn’t the issue. In fact, he was downright handsome. The problem was the familiarity of the face staring back at me. Of all the craptastic luck.”

You see, Jamie had left Woodfalls long ago in search of love. When Grant broke her heart, she wanted to get away and find someone she could call her own. She’s a great character. Real, funny and relatable.  She’s got sass, but she also has a big heart and one thing is for sure, the moment destiny thrusts these two back together, the feelings she buried deep within come bursting out in a torrent of confusion and desire.

“When I left Woodfalls four years ago, I thought it was only a matter of time until I found Mr. Right. I wanted a relationship like my parents had, one that stood the test of time and was an equal amount of give and take. Now, five years later, I had dated enough guys to realize that Mr. Right was tougher to find that I thought.”

And Grant… sigh…. loved him hard. He’s kind and thoughtful, but can easily hold his own in the verbal warfare exchanges between them. I loved their banter and there were so many moments that had me giggling and grinning. What ensues is series of humorous events that brings them closer together, learning truths long misunderstood. I devoured every page and wanted more by the time I was done. This is simply the perfect standalone book to pick up when you need something romantic and funny and quick. Highly recommend you download this now and that you revel in the magic of a love come true during Christmas.
