Review: Devil in Spring (#3, Ravenels) by Lisa Kleypas

It’s a joy to read Lisa Kleypas. Every time I pick up one of her books, I’m instantly addicted, obsessed, consumed by the story. Drawn in by her singular way of weaving together humor, sexiness, intrigue and romance. I was so looking forward to reading Devil in Spring—I loved Devil in Winter and to think about a story which centered on Evie and Sebastian’s son… well I was just bursting with excitement, eager to get my hands on this novel.

Kleypas did not disappoint.

Gabriel and Pandora’s story is everything I hoped it would be. Funnier than usual, with notes of suspense woven in to keep the pace fast and fresh. I loved Pandora from the get go—we’d met her in Marrying Winterborne—and she was spirited, quirky and interesting… the perfect partner for a cynical rake like Gabriel St. Vincent.

Theirs is a story of unexpected passion and connection. Neither willing participants in the marriage season, both determined to live their lives by their own design. But when fate pushes them together (in a hilarious way), they can’t help but be drawn to each other, albeit reluctantly.

I can’t recommend this book enough, I loved it and I know you will too. You’ll happily be transported into the late 1800s, swept away by the love story of this feisty young woman and her cynical-but-kind-hearted rake.

For those of you new to Lisa Kleypas, even though this is the third book in the Ravenels series, you can pick this book up as a standalone, however I highly recommend you at least read Devil in Winter (and maybe Marrying Winterborne) prior to reading Devil in Spring.
