Mine (#2, Real, Raw and Ripped) by Katy Evans

My Thoughts

Intense. Fierce. Bold. Passionate. Gripping from beginning to end.
I was absolutely captivated by this next installment, enthralled by the
all-consuming intensity that is Remington Tate. Solid writing, solid storytelling,  a striking sequel that packs a punch.

My Review

“Hard, lean, and perfect, he is all dangerous, all beautiful, and all mine.”

Remington Tate is back and better than ever. This sequel packs a hell of punch, delivering the intensity, the passion, the seductiveness and the all-consuming highs and lows of our broken hero. From the very first page, I was instantly absorbed and and pulled in by the powerful riptide of the story, fully immersed in the ferocity, the fury, the force and the fire that is Remington. He’s one of the most intense, multifaceted male characters I have ever read… all pain, guts and glory making up a brute of a man who fights hard, falls hard and loves even harder.

“I’ve been loved, and I have loved. I’m in love, and I will be forever changed by this love, by this man. I used to dream of medals and championships, but now I dream solely of a blue-eyed fighter who one day changed my life, when he put his lips on mine…”

After Brooke left Remy in Real, he was absolutely destroyed. Thankfully, by the book’s end, they are back together, but the trauma left a permanent scar on both Remy’s and Brooke’s heart. We learn more about their time apart and the repercussions of that choice. This book is really about coming to terms, heart and soul, with each other regardless of the things they can and can’t avoid. Forsaking their love  is not an option.

“You,” he says his voice terse and commanding… “are going to love me until I die. I’m going to make you love me even if it hurts, and when it hurts, I’m going to make it better.”

I am struck speechless at the fervor of Remy’s love for Brooke. It’s unstoppable and unrelenting, piercing and passionate, selfless and kind. For such a big, tough, alpha guy, he unapologetically loves Brooke and is not afraid to show it. That’s probably the thing I love the most about this series and about Remy… he is seriously swoon-worthy with the way that he loves that woman. He’s possessive and protective and the love he feels is so palpable that it practically jumps off the page and hits you square in the chest. It’s not always the healthiest relationship admittedly, but the passion, the sexual desire, the co-dependency is so great that they can both break each other a little too easily.

“We’re the object of each other’s hurt and each other’s solace.”

Brooke struggles with the women that Remy has literally used to help him come back from the black. She sometimes frustrated me because Remy has done nothing but prove to her the depths of his fiery love. But finally an unexpected twist brings them even closer than before and they are finally ready to conquer their future together.

We also continue to better understand Remington… this broken soul who has endured so much pain and disappointment in his life that he continues to fight with his demons daily. My heart broke for him as he continues to battle his past, manage his speedy highs and refrain from succumbing to the deep and dark depressions that incite him to retreat inside himself.

“I want to punch things all fucking day. There’s an ache in my chest I want to rip out of me, but it’s so fucking deep, I could tear my heart out and it would still be there.”

Expect lots of drama (yes, that awful Scorpion is back too), lots of steamy sex (*fans self*), lots of love and lots of surprisingly sweet and moving moments in this kick-ass sequel. Cannot freaking wait until Remy is out on November 26th and we can finally get inside of his head!

“Every second that you and I breathe, you belong with me.”
