Review: Good Vibrations (#1, Welcome to Paradise) by S.L. Scott

My Thoughts

Fun and flirty, sweet and steamy.
Lots of angst. Lots of sexiness. It’s the perfect summertime read!

Synopsis

Good Vibrations Front Ebook Cover 1I grab her exploring finger just as it reaches my happy trail—a trail that if I let her wander down further will lead us to do things we can’t take back. Things like three-word phrases being confessed that would end me if I was rejected. Things like selfishly wanting to own her body and doing things to her that would make my fantasies blush. And things like making her promises too soon that won’t do either of us any good. She makes me want a future that’s not possible, and one I don’t deserve.

Listening to my ego got me into this situation. Will listening to my heart get me out?

My Review

This book was so much fun to read! It’s sexy, seductive, flirty and exactly the book to pick up this summer! It evokes that carefree sense we desire that somehow seems a little bit more within reach in the months of sun and sand, in a place far from home. In this case, Hawaii. Plus, our hero, Evan, is a hot surfer!!! What else do you need?! Really?!!!

Welcome to paradise!gv4

Mallory Wray is in Hawaii for the summer and arriving at the airport, as she takes in her surroundings, her eyes land on a couple kissing. The girl is crying, sad to leave what seems to be her boyfriend. But clearly, she’s more into the kiss than he, who looks like a blonde Hawaiian God. As she waits for her ride, Mr. Gorgeous strikes up a conversation with her and despite her disgust at this guy flirting it up with her minutes after he says goodbye to another girl, she finds herself in need of a ride.

Meet Evan Ashford.

When they meet, they have this push/pull thing down perfectly. I love their suggestive and flirty banter!!! Immediately, Mallory gets on the defensive, probably because she is incredibly attracted to this tanned and beautiful Hawaiian boy.

“Just so you know, your bullshit lines won’t work on me. Anyway, I’m sure there’s a fresh batch of girls about to land who are looking for that fling they will always remember and reflect upon fondly for the rest of their lives.”

And it seems Evan is just who Mallory thinks he is. He explains he doesn’t do “the relationship thing,” but he tries to always be truthful so the girls know not to expect anything from him.

“The right girl? I’m one of those guys who believes in the right now kind of girl.”

With certain circumstances coming into play, that night, Mallory throws caution into the wind and one things leads to another. But as things become a little too real and lines of communication get crossed, Mallory commits to forgetting about Evan Ashford. Does that happen? Of course not! They run into each other again and the real angst and fun begin.

Mallory seems to have Evan pegged… knowing just his type and tries to stay away, but she can’t and he can’t either. They continue to be drawn to each other.

“He makes me want him! It’s hard to give up the best sex of your life over stupid stuff like principles and pride.”

I don’t want to give away too much, but both Evan and Mallory learn more about each other, realizing there’s more beneath the surface… more revelations, more depth, more attraction.

“You’re mine, baby. Only. Mine.”

And boy, is this book hot! It’s sexy and steamy and will make you look at pineapples in a whole new way! I loved that it brought out that excitement of finding a gorgeous boy to have fun with in the summer… the excitement of new connections. This book had me grinning throughout, and just gave me a good feeling overall. And despite Evan and Mallory meeting casually in the summer, their relationship grows to be more than that, but their story is a push and pull, a dance of love and hate, of attraction and distraction. Ultimately, I think they find something in each other that they both needed, but do they mess it up? Do they make it? And what happens when Mallory has to go back to school? Gahhhh!!!!

Well, you should know Good Vibrations doesn’t end in a relationship cliffhanger, but the sneak peek at book 2, Good Intentions, definitely does! You definitely get an HEA, but the story is not resolved and leaves you wanting more!
