Synopsis

simple perfection coverWoods had his perfect life mapped out for him. Rise up the ranks of the family business. Marry the rich girl of his parents’ dreams. Pretend that wealth and privilege was all he’d ever wanted. Then a girl named Della breezed into town, a beautifully imperfect stranger who captured his heart and opened his eyes to a new kind of future. Woods is ready and willing to sacrifice everything for her when the sudden death of his father leaves him with his mother to care for and a business to manage.

Della is determined to be strong for Woods, even as she’s quietly falling to pieces. No matter how far from home she’s run, the ghosts of her past have never stopped haunting her. Struggling to hide her true feelings from Woods, Della fears she can’t be his rock without dragging him down into the darkness with her. But is she strong enough to let go of the last thing holding her together?

My Review

“In all her twisted perfection she had made me fall helplessly in love with her. A life without her in it seemed pointless.”

I absolutely love the Perfection series. The chemistry between Woods and Della is undeniable! And it’s not just sexual chemistry, but also a pull… an unrelenting need for each other that makes it impossible for them to be apart. Woods in particular needs Della as much as he needs his next breath. In Simple Perfection, his desire to protect her, heal her, love her is evident and all-consuming.

“Della Sloane had become my addiction when I hadn’t been available. In all her twisted perfection she had made me fall helplessly in love with her. A life without her in it seemed pointless. I often wondered how people found joy in life without knowing her.”

After all the drama in Twisted Perfection including the unexpected passing of Woods’s father, Della and Woods are finally together. There is so much passion, so much love in their relationship, but Della still continues to suffer silently as fears for her future — their future — dominate her every thought. Della is afraid that she’ll break and succumb to the mental illness of her mother. But Woods is like a balm to her conflicted heart, showing her how much he loves her every step of the way.

“With Woods arms wrapped around me and the beat of his heart pressed against my chest, I knew he would hold me steady. If I ever fell, I’d have him to catch me.”

As the already-tense situation between Woods and his mother intensifies (an escalation fueled by the malicious intentions of Angelina), Woods’s life becomes overwhelming and he’s torn between the instinctive need to have Della by his side at all times and dealing with the club and his family.  Della begins to feel like a burden… a broken thing Woods must constantly care for… a crippling constraint for Wood’s bright future.

“What was I good for? He had to worry about me. I was weak and needy. I was one more thing for him to stress over. I wasn’t any help at all.

Just when you thought they were impervious to heartache, they break. Della sacrifices her own happiness because she loves Woods so much and she wants nothing but success and joy in his future. The separation shatters Woods. I have to say that Abbi Glines did an amazing job at packing so much emotion, passion, need, desire into these two characters, particularly Woods. He is a striking combination of intelligence, power and a man desperately in love. To him, Della was everything and now suddenly, he had lost her… smothered her… clipped her wings and he simply can’t picture his forever without her.

“I can’t live without Della. I can’t breathe. I can’t f*cking concentrate. I need her. Just her. I can do anything if I have her with me.”

In this final installment of the Perfection series, Abbi throws an emotional gut punch, pulling, twisting, shifting all our emotions and just when you think you’re okay, she swiftly delivers another set of unanticipated blows with surprising plot twists that left me breathless. And for Rush fans… Rush and Blair do make several appearances and it’s so fabulous! It was so great to catch a glimpse into their happiness and I loved every minute they both appeared on the page. In summary, I have truly loved these two Perfection books, loved this entire Rosemary Beach series and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for Grant in the Chance series.

“You’re my all-in Della. I’ll throw it all away for you. I just want you. I’m all in, baby. This life with you, I’m planning on us.”
