searching for beautiful coverThe highly anticipated third novel in the Searching For series from Jennifer Probst, “one of the most exciting breakout novelists” (USA TODAY), featuring a runaway bride and the man who wants to be more than just her best friend…

Genevieve MacKenzie has her life completely under control. About to wed the charming Chief doctor at the local hospital, she’s an up-and-coming surgeon with everything she could ever want. Until an escape through the church window on the day of her wedding sends her life into a tailspin…and flings her right into her best friend’s arms.

When Wolfe catches his best friend falling out a window on her wedding day, he doesn’t ask questions. He whisks her away, determined to watch over her and discover the truth behind her desperate escape. But when his feelings turn more than platonic, he realizes he may risk his most important relationship in order to protect his damaged heart, and the woman he loves.

Can Genevieve and Wolfe’s friendship turn into something deeper—or is it already too late for true love?

Let’s Talk Wedding Fiascos!

As I was writing my newest release, Searching for Beautiful, and my heroine dove out a church window to escape her wedding, I began thinking about the type of weddings we’ve all been to.

Let’s be honest. Other than trying to run away from your groom because you’ve realized he’s not the man for you, there are other fiascos that are part of the package. When you have planned every last detail of your big, dream wedding, life gets in the way. I believe it’s another reminder for us to realize we are never really in charge in this life. It’s just an illusion, and when planning a life with the man you love, it’s a good lesson to learn early.

I’ve experienced two weddings in my life. One was picture perfect. I went through my day like a ghost, watching the perfect scene before me unfold, while my heart wept rivers of tears. I wanted to be the bride that escaped out the window, but I made my choice. The marriage was a disaster and we were divorced within six months.

But the wedding kicked ass.

My second marriage was the right one. I’ve been married to my husband for 11 years now, and we fit like the soul-mates we were. But I hated my actual wedding. There were so many disasters through every step, by the end of the night I was frustrated, pissed-off, and exhausted beyond belief.

Another joke on me. My marriage was everythinig I’ve ever dreamed it would be.

So, sometimes, the event doesn’t match up to the reality of what unfolds. In my good marriage but bad wedding, many disasters unfolded, which now make me laugh aloud, even as if I prod my husband for a do-over one day!

Here’s a list of everything that went horribly wrong:

My husband’s brother got really drunk before the wedding, and the bridal party was super late for the wedding.

Okay, I’m talking drunk groomsmen who show up at the limo an hour after they’re supposed to be there. When the limo driver (we had one to save money!) came to pick me up, he was a wreck. Apologetic. And it was already half an hour after the ceremony was supposed to start. My best friend advised me to marry his ass and then kick it after we were legal.

I did.

✦ ✦ ✦

After the wedding, my husband drove in the limo with his friends instead of me.

Does this really need an explanation? His drunken friends told him to get into the limo to ride to the reception with them. After we were married. When, puzzled, I asked him why he wouldn’t want to ride with me, I got some kind of garbled answer like, “We’ll be together forever, baby. Let me ride now with the guys.”

I think that’s enough for you to process for now.

✦ ✦ ✦

Our minister was a psycho.

At the ceremony, after two long, long sessions with him telling him exactly what type of event we wanted, he had no idea who we were. He stumbled over his words, called us by different names, and proceeded to get intoxicated and embarrassing at the reception.

✦ ✦ ✦

My matron of honor was missing her bouquet.

After the flowers were delivered, we lined up ready to get in the limo and realized my matron of honor had no flowers. None. We had to call the florist last minute and wait half an hour while they put something together and re-delivered it.

✦ ✦ ✦

My wedding dress got stained.

I looked down at some point and found a huge black food stain on my pristine white dress. When I wanted to throw up and have a break down, my bridesmaid dragged me into the bathroom and spent endless time blotting it with seltzer, letting it dry, blotting it with seltzer, letting it dry, etc.

✦ ✦ ✦

We had no last dance.

When the last dance came over, and the DJ announced joyfully it was the final song of the evening, I couldn’t find my husband. Ended up he was smoking outside with all the groomsmen and missed the whole thing.

Bad, right? Yet, when we fell into real life, my husband was more than I ever could imagine to be. We laugh at it now (sometimes) and count ourselves lucky we found each other and stayed together.

✦ ✦ ✦

Now, it’s your turn. Share so I don’t feel so terrible! What are you most disastrous, famous wedding fiascos you’ve experienced?

Review: Searching For Perfect (#2, Searching For) by Jennifer Probst

My Thoughts

The perfect balance of sweet and sexy, witty and heartfelt.
I continue to fall in love with these heartwarming characters in the delightful second installment of the Searching For series.

searching for perfectThe highly anticipated second novel in the new Searching For series from Jennifer Probst, “one of the most exciting breakout novelists” (USA TODAY)—a spin-off of the bestselling Marriage to a Billionaire series—featuring a sexy matchmaker, and the rocket scientist who becomes her special project…

The up-and-coming matchmaking agency Kinnections is the hottest thing to hit Verily, New York—just like Kennedy Ashe, social director for the service she owns with her two best girlfriends. A coach, consultant, and cheerleader rolled into one super-sizzling package, Kennedy creates dream dates, encourages singles to shine, and never refuses a challenge—not even Nate Ellison Raymond Dunkle, rocket scientist, nerd extraordinaire, and Kennedy’s newest client.

Kennedy vows to work her magic and transform this hot mess in a lab coat with a disastrous relationship track record into the most wanted man on the Verily dating scene. If only she could turn the wand on herself…though she radiates confidence and sex appeal, Kennedy harbors deep-seated insecurities from a tormented past and lifelong struggle with weight issues. When she realizes she and Nate are cut from the same cloth and might be perfect together, can Kennedy learn to let her heart lead the way? Or will her fears sentence her to the sidelines as Nate finds love—with someone else?

My Review

“Love has nothing to do with perfect. It has to do with flaws, and overcoming failure, and fighting for what you want.”

I had been waiting anxiously for this book! Ever since I read Searching For Someday, I immediately fell in love with this cast of characters whom were witty and fun, real and loving, but with their own set of issues to overcome as they find the perfect kind of love. Their troubles are relatable and it makes you root for them all the harder as they embark on their search for their elusive happy ever after. First it was Kate, but now, it’s Kennedy’s story. She’s beautiful, always perfectly dressed and perfectly poised to conquer the world, one match at a time. Kennedy is all about fashion, health and beauty, responsible for making sure her clients are presentable when looking for love. But for a girl that is sheer perfection on the outside, she’s anything but on the inside. Kennedy has been scarred by a past that has been defined by her exterior, which wasn’t always as perfect as it is now. She thrust herself out of the ugliness of her past by transforming herself into beauty personified … a person that no one could berate. A person who apparently valued beauty over brains… fashion above substance. But Kennedy was hiding a secret. She wasn’t happy. She wasn’t herself. And she was certainly not okay.

“…her entire life was about remaking herself to the person she’s always dreamed to be.”

Kennedy truly believed in helping others find love. She was good at transforming them to into the best version of themselves. So when aerospace engineer Nate Dunkle fails epically at one of Kinnections’ speed dating event, she is determined to help this twisted-up scientist find the perfect woman.

“… his days had melded together in a long line of formulas and research… His dating life, slow to begin with, ground to a big fat zero. Three months ago, he had celebrated his thirty-second birthday and realized he had no one to invite over… Pathetic. That’s when he made his decision to change.”

Nate wants a wife. It’s time. His unfailingly scientific mind did the research, read the books and consulted Cosmo to help him in his pursuit for the perfect mate, but when his first effort at a speed dating event crashes and burns, he can’t understand the outcome. Kennedy Ashe, matchmaker at Kinnections, decides to take him on. And this means the kind of project that involves spending lots of time with this beautiful woman doing all kinds of things that no male would choose to do voluntarily. But in the name of love, he jumps in willingly.

“I’m going to find you a wife. Someone you can love forever. Someone perfect.”

As these two seemingly opposite people start to get to know each other in the process, a sizzling, unexpected kind of chemistry crackles. Nate is absolutely entranced by Kennedy, but she immediately blows him off. No way. No how. Long-term love isn’t in the cards for Kennedy. She struggles too much inside to be ready for that kind of thing and this man, this scientist, wasn’t going to change that.

“You don’t want me, Nate. I don’t do forever. I’m not looking for marriage or security or children right now. I just do… now.”

And Nate, well, he doesn’t think that someone as perfect as Kennedy could ever go for him. But somehow, the more he’s around her, the more he realizes she’s hiding something. There are times when bits and pieces of a different person come through and he begins to unravel her truths, moment by moment.

“You lie about yourself, Kennedy. Pretend to be someone you’re not because you think it’s easier. You think it’ll protect you.”

Kennedy’s obsession with perfection begins to falter in the arms of Nate. She finds herself becoming too attached, happy, carefree, when she’s with him. And it turns out they are a lot more alike than meets the eye. I absolutely loved seeing them together. I loved seeing Nate’s confidence grow and Kennedy gradually become more vulnerable and real. Kennedy has had to endure some really traumatic things, but Nate is so incredibly supportive and caring that he pierces through her facade.

“You’re both. Smart and beautiful. On the inside and the outside. You don’t have to choose one over the other anymore. You can just be exactly who you were mean to be. And I think that’s damn perfect.”

This is a story about letting go of all the ugly stuff that holds us down. About letting go of all those preconceived notions of perfection. About being brave enough to fight for the person we love despite the fear that feels consuming. Jennifer Probst does an amazing job once again creating these wonderful, real characters that are intrinsically good, but a little broken. I absolutely love seeing characters from the Marriage to a Billionaire series continue to pop up in these stories. It feels like I’m a part of this continuing story of people I’ve come to love and I can’t wait to see what’s next. If you’re looking for a wonderfully romantic and refreshingly lighthearted series,  look no further than these books.

“I am perfect. For you. With you. I don’t want half measures anymore. I don’t want safety. I want you. Only you.”

Before You
by Jena Bennett

It’s all fun and games

I had a simple plan for spring break.
Sun, sand, and a hot guy. Sex on the beach, with no strings attached.
A chance to get rid of this pesky virginity once and for all.
And when I met Tyler McKenna, I thought I had it made.

Until someone gets hurt

But then girls started turning up at Key West landmarks. Girls who looked like me, but with one crucial difference: They’d all been drugged and relieved of their virginity.
The virginity I still have.
The virginity Ty refuses to take.
And now I’ve begun to wonder whether there isn’t more to him than meets the eye.

Suddenly, sex on the beach doesn’t sound so good anymore…

Between Us

Jen McLaughlin

I’m just a girl…

I’m a famous country star who’s spent her life cultivating a good girl persona to avoid bad press, but I’ve reached my limit. I’m going away for spring break with my two best friends from college, and we’ve vowed to spend the vacation seeking out fun in the sun—along with some hot, no-strings-attached sex. The only thing I needed was the perfect guy, and then I met Austin Murphy. He might be totally wrong for me, but the tattooed bad boy is hard to resist. When I’m in his arms, everything just feels right. And I’m just a guy…

I’m just a bartender who lives in Key West, stuck in an endless cycle of boredom. But then Mackenzie Forbes, America’s Sweetheart herself, comes up to me and looks at me with those bright green eyes…and everything changes. She acts like she’s just a normal girl and I’m just a normal guy, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. My past isn’t pretty, you know. I did what I had to do to survive, and she’d run if she learned the truth about my darkness. But with her, I’m finally realizing what it’s like to be alive. To laugh, live, and be happy.

All good things must come to an end…

Beyond Me

Jennifer Probst

Spring break in Key West with my besties was supposed to be casual fun. But I never expected to meet James Hunt. Sex and frolic? Yes! A relationship? No. But his hot blue eyes and confident manner drew me in. And when he let me see the man behind the mask, I fell hard, foolishly believing there could be a future for us. Of course I never considered our relationship might be based on lies…or that his betrayal could rock my foundation and make me question everything I believed in…

The moment I saw Quinn I knew I had to have her. She hooked me with her cool eyes and don’t touch me attitude. I had it all, money, social status, and looks. I could get any girl I wanted…until her. When my friends challenged me with a bet to get her into bed by the end of the week, I couldn’t pass it up. But sex wasn’t supposed to turn into love. She wasn’t supposed to change me, push me, and make me want more for myself. She wasn’t supposed to wreck me in all ways. And now, if I can’t turn my lies into truth, I just might lose her forever…

Review: Searching For Someday (#1, Searching For) by Jennifer Probst

My Thoughts

Irresistibly sexy and sweet,
this is an original story about finding that elusive
snap, crackle, pop and being brave enough to embrace love
with whom you least expect it.

searching for somedayKate has given up on love—at least for herself. She is both blessed and cursed with the ability to sense a romantic connection between two people—a gift that her family passed down for generations. When Kate launches her own matchmaking company, Kinnections, with her two best friends in a cozy New York town, she has to put aside her own romantic disasters to make her business a success.

But when a furious man stalks into her office and accuses her business of being a scam, Kate is given the ultimate challenge to prove herself. Slade puts himself in her hands and asks Kate to find him love. Enraged at his arrogance but stubbornly eager to prove herself, Kate agrees, dedicating herself to the journey of finding him love… only to find herself falling for him along the way.

My Review

Jennifer Probst has this instinctive ability to mix in just the right amount of sexiness, steam, humor, angst and emotion to keep you completely charmed and captivated. She threads these elements together with that unwavering hope that the fates will always align to bring love when you least expect it. Her books bring out the hopeless romantic side of me where soul mates exist, magic happens and love endures. This brand new series encapsulates this spirit. I loved the story, loved the characters and it left me feeling happy and warm by the flip of the very last page.

“Loneliness hit. She was so tired. When was it her turn? When would she finally find the connection herself?… Maybe, just maybe there wasn’t a man or woman meant for everyone. Maybe, just maybe, she was meant to be alone.”

Kate Seymour is the smart, successful business owner of the matchmaking agency, Kinnections. Along with her carefully crafted process of helping others find their true mate, she has a special secret weapon. Kate was born with the ability to sense the energy of a true romantic connection between two people… a gift passed down through her family over the years. Kate herself is a romantic. She longs to find someone to share her life with, but long-lingering insecurities have taken root and she hasn’t found someone to love… or someone to love her back.

When Slade Montgomery barges in to Kinnections claiming their whole operation is a scam, Kate is shocked. Particularly when he decides to enroll as a client to prove her wrong. Kate takes the challenge gracefully. Slade is the gorgeous overprotective brother of a client of theirs who has been hurt too many times. He’s a successful divorce lawyer, doesn’t believe in love or fairy tale endings. He’s jaded… crushed by the harsh reality of broken happily ever afters.

“Magic is an illusion, Kate, just like love. Friendship lasts. Family. But romantic love is just a mirage—a glass of ice-cold Coca-Cola in the middle of the desert. You stumble and reach to quench the thirst, then find the glass vanishes right through your fingers.”

Both of them are unexpectedly drawn towards each other. A sexual energy crackles between them, an unexplainable allure pulls and the attraction sizzles to life each time they are around the other. But it quickly becomes apparent that what they’re looking for is wholly at odds. Kate wants the commitment of forever while Slade wants the unattached enjoyment of right now.

“Yeah, a matchmaker and a divorce lawyer. That’s got success written all over it.”

Their connection isn’t only physical, while in some ways there are completely different, in other ways they are so much alike. I love their verbal warfare! It’s funny and engaging and you realize how perfect they are for each other. Kate tries to stay away. She doesn’t date clients and it’s clear that she is nothing like the girl he looks for. So never did she expect that a single touch would forever alter their destinies…

“Why are you so innocent?”
“Why are you so hopeless?”
“Because my job taught me the truth.”
“So did mine.”
They stared at each other, barely breathing… He closed the last few inches between them, snagging her around the waist and lifting her up to meet his lips.

Kate is sure there must be some cosmic mistake. She can’t feel the things she’s feeling with Slade. The more time they spend together, however, the more their thoughts continued to be consumed by the other. Slade is drawn to Kate’s intelligence, courage and wit, as well as her kindness. But as things escalate, Slade is the one to call the whole thing off. He just can’t commit to giving Kate what she needs and deserves, regardless of how much he cares for her, how much he wants her.

“I’m not built for forever. At least, not with someone who thinks love is a fairy tale and we’ll live happily ever after. You haven’t seen the things I have, the truth of what so-called love does to people. There is no forever.”

“You’re wrong, counselor,” she said softly. “I’m not looking for forever. But I am looking for someday. I think I deserve that.”

I really felt the connection between the two protagonists. It at felt real… the disappointment and heartbreak, the hope, the desire and the joy. I visualized the whole story playing out like a movie… a favorite romantic comedy that pulls you in so completely. I also loved the characters, particularly Kate’s dog, Robert. You’ll see!… I’m so excited to continue with this heartwarming series and I can’t wait for the next book, Searching For Perfect, which is Kennedy’s book (out next April)! If you’re looking for your next romance fix with a little bit of humor and a whole lot of sexy, look no further than this book!
