About Easy Magic

Family. Responsibility. Stability.

As the co-CEO of Bayou Enterprises, and the eldest of the Boudreaux clan, Beau is the epitome of these. Now that his baby sister Gabby is happily settled down, Beau has moved into the company loft in the heart of the French Quarter to be closer to his office while his own home is built. He doesn’t have time for anything but the family he adores and the company that drives him.

If only the bewitching owner of the herb shop downstairs from Beau’s loft wasn’t so damn tempting.

Mallory Adams is living the life. The good life. The best life for her. After years of hiding who she is, and the gifts she’s been cursed with, Mallory opened her little shop in the French Quarter, offering herbs and lotions for anything from soothing a sunburn to chasing those pesky ghosts New Orleans is known for out of a client’s home. Some call her eccentric, and some say she’s simply odd, and that’s okay with her. She is a bit odd, but in her experience, all of the best people are.

When an old pipe bursts in the loft above her store, flooding her storeroom, Mallory comes face to face with Beau Boudreaux, and she doesn’t need the clairvoyant abilities that have been passed down through generations to know that she’ll never be the same. Beau is her exact opposite; serious, straitlaced. He wears suits for Pete’s sake and probably wouldn’t know the difference between arnica and flaxseed if his life depended on it. But when he touches her, the electricity is through the roof and she’s smart enough to know that a chemistry like theirs doesn’t happen every day.

Can two people so very different possibly find their way to happily ever after?

Excerpt

I turn to look at him and he’s leaning against the door jamb, watching me with lust written all over his face.

I don’t have to be psychic to see it.

He wants me.

He slowly pushes away from the door and moves toward me, his shoulders broad in the white button down shirt, his arms hard where the shirt is rolled to his elbows. His jaw tightens as he gets closer, towering over me because he’s so damn tall, but I’m not afraid of him in the least.

He doesn’t say a word as he lifts his hand to cup my cheek, his thumb brushing under my eye. I wrap my hand around his wrist and lean into his touch, soaking up his warmth. God, I’ve missed being touched.

Being touch by Beau is like being touched for the first time in my life, and I never want him to stop.

He lowers his lips to mine, brushes them lightly, nibbles the corner, and then sinks in for the kiss of my life. He gently urges my mouth open, and licks my lips, and devours me. His hand dives into my hair, and the wall is suddenly at my back as he continues to explore me in ways I didn’t even know existed.

He braces his free hand on the wall above my head, and I fist my hands in his shirt at his sides, holding on for dear life.

Finally, he pulls back, breathing hard, his eyes bright and dilated.

And in the moment, I know. His touch is safe. I can trust it. Him. I’m not bombarded with someone else’s emotions, and I am free to simply feel my own while being intimate with him.

“So that’s what all the hoopla’s about.”

He smirks, and I realize I spoke aloud again, but I’m not embarrassed. Not in the least.

He takes a deep breath and drags his knuckles down my cheek.

“I want to keep you here all night,” he murmurs before kissing my forehead. “So I’d better take you home.”

I smile. He could talk me into staying. But he’s not. And I’ll be damned if that doesn’t make me like him even more.

Synopsis

Gabrielle Boudreaux, the youngest of the Boudreaux clan, is a single mother of her young son, Sam.  Running a Bed and Breakfast at the family plantation house at the edge of the Mississippi River, Gabby loves her inn, her boy and her family. She meets new people every day, and takes pride in the house and land that has been in her family for more than five generations. Blessed beyond measure, she’s also lonely, although she would never admit that to anyone. Until Rhys O’Shaughnessy walks through her door, brooding and wounded and the sexiest thing she’s ever laid eyes on.

Rhys has been at the top of his game as a major league pitcher for the Chicago Cubs for more than ten years. Baseball is in his blood. But when he tears his rotator cuff and has to sit a season out, he retreats to Inn Boudreaux at the recommendation of his cousin, Kate, to heal and work toward building his shoulder back to perfect shape with only one goal in mind: to return to the game he loves. But he didn’t plan on being utterly charmed by a devastatingly beautiful woman and her baseball-loving son.

When Rhys’ shoulder has healed and he’s given the chance to return to his team, will he leave the family he’s come to love behind, or will he stay with Gabby and Sam?

Excerpt

I wander into the kitchen and place a slice of the leftover peach pie on a plate and carry it out to the front porch, once again taking my favorite seat. I leave the lights off, comfortable in the dark of the bayou, and watch the lightning bugs as they flit through the trees.

“I thought I heard you come out here,” Rhys says as he steps outside, holding two wine glasses.

“I’m sorry, I thought everyone had gone up. Did you need anything?”

He’s shaking his head before I can stand up. “No, I’m fine. Thought you could use a glass of this.”

He passes me a cold glass of my favorite wine. “How did you know I like this one?”

“Because it’s in your fridge, and not in the one available for guests.”

“And yet you got in it.” I raise a brow and take a sip. The sweet wine complements the pie well.

Rhys simply shrugs and sips his own wine. “That pie is awesome.”

“Yeah, I was following my heart and it led me to the fridge.”

He laughs and I have to grip firmly onto my fork as chills run up my arm.

This man is potent. Sexy.

So damn sexy.

I finish my pie and set the plate on the ground, then settle back with my wine as Rhys leans his hips on the railing, facing me. I can barely see his face in the dark.

“What do you think of Louisiana so far?” I ask.

“It’s beautiful. Hot.”

“It is hot,” I agree.

“This porch is nice and cool.”

“It’s the trees.”

“May I?” he asks and points at the swing next to me.

“Sure.”

“What do you mean, it’s the trees?” he asks and leans his arm across the back, much like Beau did this afternoon. I’m acutely aware of Rhys’s fingertips brushing my shoulder and sending zings down through my nipples.

Damn nipples.

“The trees were planted hundreds of years ago, before the house was even a thought,” I reply, trying to maintain my professionalism. I can repeat this speech all day.

And often do.

“It’s not clear if they were planted with the plan of a home being here at the end of them, but what we do know is that they form a wind tunnel. The Mississippi is right over that levy.” I point straight ahead. “The wind flows right through these massive trees, and onto the property, providing the world’s first air conditioning.

“So, my ancestors would open the doors and windows, and let the cool air through. But thankfully, we’ve since added the electric AC.” I glance over at Rhys, able to see his face now, and feel the smile leave my face at the sight of his deep green eyes watching me.

“You’re so damn beautiful, Gabby.”

I frown and glance down but murmur, “Thank you.”

“You don’t believe me?”

“I’m not an idiot,” I reply and turn my gaze back to him. “I come from beautiful people. Strong people.”

He nods. “You’re certainly that too. This place is impressive.”

That makes me grin. “Thank you.”

Synopsis

Mar-03Eli Boudreaux’s family has built ships and boats in Louisiana for generations. He comes from a hardworking, wealthy family and his empire is growing by leaps and bounds. At thirty, he is the youngest CEO to ever head Bayou Enterprises, co-chairing with his eldest brother. His head for business and his no-nonsense work ethic is also quickly making him the best the company has seen in generations. His staff admires him, women adore him and Eli’s family is solid. But he’s recently discovered that someone on the inside of his business is stealing from him and he’s determined to find out who.

Kate O’Shaughnessy is hired by companies all over the world to slip inside and investigate every member of the organization from the CEO down to the custodial staff to find the person or persons responsible for embezzling. She’s excellent at blending, becoming part of the team, and finding the weakest link. She’s smart, quick-witted, and she’s now been hired by Bayou Enterprises, specifically Eli Boudreaux. The attraction is immediate and the chemistry is off the charts, but Kate has heard all about Eli’s playboy past and she has a job to do. Sleeping with the boss isn’t a part of that job, even if just the sound of her name rolling off that Cajun tongue and the way he fills out a designer suit does make her sweat.

Eli’s southern charms surprise Kate. The man whose reputation labels him as a ruthless, callous womanizer is not the man she’s coming to know intimately. He’s generous, protective and makes her smile. Cracking through Kate’s cool, reserved demeanor and discovering her love of sexy, expensive lingerie is a challenge Eli can’t resist, but her sweet nature, love of family and sense of humor pull at him in ways no one else ever has.

But when the person responsible for trying to single-handedly dismantle Eli’s empire comes to light, and it’s time for Kate to move on, to what lengths will Eli go to keep the woman he’s fallen in love with by his side?

Interview

So you have a new series… The Boudreaux Series, which takes place in Louisiana. It must be both exciting and nerve-racking… and the first book is coming! What can we expect in terms of style and stories in your newest project?

Yes, I’m super excited for this new series! I’m so in love with these characters, and I’m ready for the rest of the world to fall in love with them too. The style is very similar to my With Me In Seattle series… Urban, hip, sexy with a dash of humor. The men are super alpha and strong, and my girls are also strong with that confidence that the readers have grown to love.

Do you know how many books are planned yet?

There are six books planned for this series; one for each of the Boudreaux siblings.

What inspired these stories?

I was in NOLA early last year and fell in love with the city. It was screaming at me to set a series there, and I just couldn’t shake it from my head.

Sounds like this is a family-style saga like the With Me In Seattle series… what attracts you to that kind of dynamic? That sort of series?

Yes, like my other series, this is very much a family saga. I love the idiosynchroses of a family dynamic. The relationships between the siblings and their parents, how they come to welcome a new member to the family, etc. I think it adds a beautiful depth to the story.

Tell us about the Boudreaux family. How would you describe them?

Diverse. Traditional. There are six siblings: Eli, Beau, Declan, Savannah, Charlotte and Gabby. Three of them run the family empire, Bayou Enterprises, which has been around for five generations. The other three run other businesses in New Orleans. They are intelligent, sexy, funny… did I mention sexy?

So Easy Love is first! This is Eli and Kate’s story. What can you share with us about the story?

About Eli and Kate? Eli and Kate are two of the most damaged characters that I’ve written to-date. Watching them fall in love was a privilege, and something that I didn’t take for granted. They were also stubborn, and slow to trust. It was a balancing act with them, but the journey was so worth it. Readers are going to love Eli’s tenacity, and his vulnerability. His bossiness. His ability to draw Kate out of her shell. And I think readers are going to relate to Kate and her baggage, why she carries it, why it’s difficult to move past it.

What is one of your favorite lines from Easy Love?

My favorite line from the book is spoken by Eli. It is: “I fell into such an easy love with you, I didn’t even realize it was happening, until one day, it was everything.”

What do you hope readers take away from this new family and series?

My hope is that readers hear my voice. That is to say, that they recognize that it’s my style, but that it’s a whole new family to fall in love with and invite into their fold.

Give us a hint at what to expect next, after Easy Love…anything you are super excited about? A story you are dying to tell?

Honestly, I’m excited for every single story in the series. Each couple will bring something new and fresh with their story. Releasing on March 24th is a novella from 1001 Dark Nights called Easy With You, and that will be Asher (Matt Montgomery’s partner in Tied With Me) and Lila’s story. Lila is introduced in Easy Love. Then in early summer the second book, EASY CHARM will release. That will be Rhys and Gabby’s story, and I can’t wait for it!

Thank you Kristen!!!! We are all so excited about your latest project and we can’t wait to meet Eli and Kate!

Thank you so much for hosting me today, Vilma! You’re the best. xo Kristen

Exclusive Excerpt + Giveaway: Falling For Jillian (#3, Love Under The Big Sky) by Kristen Proby

81m-CDXAu+L._SL1500_

Synopsis

From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby comes the third romance in the Love Under the Big Sky series, featuring a veteran struggling with PTSD and the one woman who can help him recover—and learn to love again.

Jillian thought she was a city girl through and through; the fast cars, high fashion, and glamour—she loves it all. But when her ex tells her he’s having a baby with his new wife (after Jillian struggled for years to get pregnant), she hightails it back to Montana to cry on the shoulder of her best friend, Cara.

But in truth, Jillian would rather be comforted by someone else…specifically Zack, Cara’s brother-in-law. Zack is a veteran of the Iraq War who came back to the family ranch to raise his preteen son after the boy’s mother took off. He’s struggling to re-establish a relationship with his son, and warding off the demons of PTSD, which still haunt him. The last thing he needs is bold, brassy Jillian…but why can’t he keep his hands off her?

Excerpt

“What’s wrong?” I ask. “Has something happened to Cara? Or Josh?”

“No.” He shakes his head and comes to a stop a few feet away from me. “Everyone’s fine.”

“Then why are you here?” I ask, confused.

He sighs and scrubs his fingers through his hair, then props his hands on his hips and hangs his head. “I just needed to make sure you’re okay.”

“Why wouldn’t I be okay?”

He doesn’t answer, and it all starts to make sense.

“Zack, why wouldn’t I be okay?” I ask again and cross my arms over my chest.

“I told you, Max has a history of being a womanizer.”

“Max has always been a friend of yours,” I remind him. “He’s a good guy.”

He rubs his fingers over his mouth the way he does when he’s agitated and shrugs again. “I’m just making sure you’re okay.”

“Let me get this straight. You drove all the way into town and sat in your truck, waiting for me to finish dinner, just to make sure I’m okay? Do you know how ridiculous you sound?”

“I’m ridiculous because I want to make sure you’re safe?”

“Zack, what do you care who I date? You don’t want me, remember?”

His mouth drops and his face pales before his eyes narrow. He steps forward and pushes his nose close to mine and I can smell the earthy, clean scent of him.

“I wasn’t the one who got on a plane and left the fucking state the next day, Jillian. I never said I didn’t want you.”

“I woke up and you were gone!”

“I had to check on my son!” he yells back.

“Well, you should have woke me up or left me a note! I’m not a fucking mind reader.” I shake my head and back away. I can’t believe this. He wants me? “You’ve avoided me like the plague!”

“When a woman flees the fucking state after I’ve had the best sex of my life with her, I take that to mean she’s not interested.”

I’m struck dumb.

Best sex of his life?
