Review

There’s something intrinsically enjoyable about royal romances, but throw in Emma Chase’s brand of humor and sexiness, and you’ve got a story as addictive as it is fun to read. Royally Screwed is the first in a new series full of irresistible mischief and unexpected romances.

“Infamy is temporary, celebrity is fleeting, but royalty is forever.”

In this series starter, we meet prince and heir to the Wessco throne, Nicholas, whose heavy burdens only fuel his desire for freedom. Between his grandmother the Queen’s expectations and the rapid unraveling of his brother’s life, his schedule brims with responsibilities. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t relish the royal life, however, with many a woman pining for a night with the Prince.

“Cover your knobber before you bob her—that’s what my father used to say. Words every royal lives by. Words I learned to never forget.”

When he’s sent to New York City to bring his brother Henry back home, he never expected to meet Olivia, a struggling waitress, a match to his humor, and a girl thoroughly unaffected by his rich, charming playboy ways.

Olivia’s life is also shackled by responsibility, hers with financial pressure and worry. Her family’s business is failing and she’s the one at the helm.

Olivia and Nicholas find something they both sorely needed in each other’s arms—freedom, honesty and fantastic chemistry. And despite how genuine feelings are, despite desperate hopes and strength of connection, their relationship can never be anything but temporary.

“We’re going to have something wonderful for as long as we can. And when it’s over, I’ll look back and I’ll remember there was something special and amazing in my life… even for just a little while. And then… life will go on.”

But even the temporary gets complicated as Olivia is pulled into a world rife with pretense, games and obligations. Both Olivia and Nicholas have choices to make—choices that could change everything.

“I smile—and I know it’s radiant. Because that’s how I feel. Right now—in his arms. Lit from the inside, like a luminous shooting star that won’t ever dim.”

It took no time at all to get sucked into Royally Screwed—red-hot chemistry, royal debacles, quick-witted exchanges—it’s all delightfully addictive. I can’t wait for Prince Henry’s story… I’m officially on royal watch now!

Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka “His Royal Hotness,” is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant―hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.

Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.

Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.

Dating a prince isn’t what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.

There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they’ve traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces and haven’t chopped anyone’s head off lately―the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.

But to Olivia―Nicholas is worth it.

Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King… or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

About The Fix Up

Oct-11

My tempting and very alpha friend Sterling Quinn is someone I consider off-limits.

It’s not just that we’re friends, he’s also cocky, confident, and British, which means he’s a walking aphrodisiac.

But lately he’s been giving me the look. You know the one. When he thinks I’m not paying attention, and his gaze lingers for too long.

When we start working together, that’s when the sexual tension between us gets so thick, I want to hack through it with a machete. I want to make all these deep feelings I’ve harbored for him disappear, because there’s no way this can end well.

The lines between business and pleasure become irrevocably blurred, and I’m stuck between a rock and Sterling’s very, very hard place.

Rather than keep a level head about our growing attraction, Sterling wants to go all in, showing me just how explosive we can be together.

But I’ve been around long enough to know that this British bad boy is more than my heart can handle. I’m not about to be cast aside like yesterday’s underwear when he’s done having fun.

Sterling’s never been told no, and he’s not about to put his ego aside and play by my rules. But I never thought he’d fight so dirty.

Excerpt

My very first memory isn’t all that different from anyone else’s. I was three and it was my first day of preschool. For some reason, my mother ignored the fact that I was actually a boy, and dressed me in God-awful overalls, a frilly cuffed shirt and patent brogues. I’d planned to smear finger paint on the outfit the first chance I got.

But that’s not what stands out most in my mind.

By then, spotting a camera lens pointed my way was as common as seeing a bird in the sky. I should’ve been used to it—and I think I was. But that day was different.

Because there were hundreds of cameras.

Lining every inch of the sidewalk, the streets, clustered together at the entrance of my school like a sea of one-eyed monsters, waiting to pounce. I remember my mother’s voice, soothing and constant as I clung to her hand, but I couldn’t make out her words. They were drowned out by the roar of snapping shutters and the shouts of photographers calling my name.

“Nicholas! Nicholas, this way, smile now! Look up, lad! Nicholas, over here!”

It was the first inkling I’d had that I—that we—were different. In the years after, I’d learn just how different my family is. Internationally renowned, instantly recognizable, our everyday activities headlines in the making.

Fame is a strange thing. A powerful thing. Usually it ebbs and flows like a tide. People get swept up in it, swamped by it, but eventually the notoriety recedes, and the former object of its affection is reduced to someone who used to be someone, but isn’t anymore.

That will never happen to me. I was known before I was born and my name will be blazoned in history long after I’m dust in the ground. Infamy is temporary, celebrity is fleeting, but royalty…

Royalty is forever.
