Interview with S.L. Scott

What’s your favorite love story?

  • Book: Pride & Prejudice I <3 Mr. Darcy
  • Movie: The Notebook I <3 Noah…and Ryan Gosling. hehe

If I wasn’t afraid I would _________ (What?)

  • Move my family to Paris or Hawaii. Lol Extremes, but I love them both.

Tell us about a unique or quirky habit of yours.

  • I recycle letters when I’m typing. If I rewrite a word, I try to use the letters in the new phrasing. It’s terribly time-consuming, but it becomes a puzzle, a problem to be solved.

On Saturdays, I like to…

  • Turn on either HGTV or E! and take naps. I also like to grill and enjoy the backyard on the weekends. My oldest is into skateboarding, and sometimes I take him to a skatepark and just sit and watch everyone. It’s very cool to see all the tricks.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

  • I’ve had too many, but a fairly recent one is in Vegas for a signing; the elevator doors opened up, and my heel snagged on the carpet, sending me tripping inside the elevator. I saved my cocktail, but my head almost went into a guy’s stomach. They were laughing, my friends were laughing, and I was laughing. It broke the ice needless to say. Well within a minute, we found out it was the entire group of Pentatonix. So they were taking our phones and taking selfies and taking pics with us. It was hilarious and very cool. All of that fun packed into ten flights down. Ha!

About S.L. Scott

New York Times and USA Bestselling Author, S. L. Scott, was always interested in the arts. She grew up painting, writing poetry and short stories, and wiling her days away lost in a good book and the movies.

With a degree in Journalism, she continued her love of the written word by reading American authors like Salinger and Fitzgerald. She was intrigued by their flawed characters living in picture perfect worlds, but could still debate that the worlds those characters lived in were actually the flawed ones. This dynamic of leaving the reader invested in the words, inspired Scott to start writing with emotion while interjecting an underlying passion into her own stories.

Living in the capital of Texas with her family, Scott loves traveling and avocados, beaches, and cooking with her kids. She’s obsessed with epic romances and loves a good plot twist. She dreams of seeing one of her own books made into a movie one day as well as returning to Europe. Her favorite color is blue, but she likens it more toward the sky than the emotion. Her home is filled with the welcoming symbol of the pineapple and finds surfing a challenge though she likes to think she’s a pro.

Review: Jealousy (#2, From the Inside Out) by S.L. Scott

My Thoughts

A deliciously nail-biting sequel in a series
where new beginnings rival second chances.

5stars

Synopsis

jealousy coverWe shared a love that regulated every heartbeat and every breath we took. It was all encompassing. I thought our love could withstand time and anything thrown our way.

I was wrong. So wrong.

I used to be happy. I used to be Juliette Weston when Dylan Somers filled my life with promises of love and a happy ever after. But when he took my heart and broke it into a million pieces, I became someone else entirely. In one afternoon, I lost my soul mate. I lost everything I knew myself to be.

Three years later, the man who destroyed me is back.

To assuage his guilt? To finish the job? It doesn’t matter… I won’t let him this time. I’m stronger. I’ve moved on. He won’t affect me.

This is a story of love and betrayal. Pain and loss. Happiness and fate. It’s about finding your true destiny.

This is our story.

And it’s not for the faint of heart.

My Review

“Why is he back, invading a life that was created in the aftermath of him?”

This series teems with turmoil, longing and questions. Jules is so torn on her feelings towards Dylan, despite her commitment to be with Austin. She’s focused on building a future with a man who can give her a healthy relationship, happiness and love. The question is… is Dylan truly a thing of the past? And moreover, is Austin the right man to give her everything she’d always dreamed of?

“My relationship with him is good. We’re healthy together. There’s comfort in Austin I desperately need. Dylan only causes heartache.”

This second installment delivers some nail-biting scenes that had me reading with bated breath to see what would happen next. The story centers on Dylan’s emotions towards Jules and his disdain towards her intensifying relationship with Austin. Dylan must mend Jules’ broken heart and show her how right they can be again. He must find a way for beauty, happiness and laughs to replace anger, heartache and tears. The problem is… Jules is not open to receiving any of it.

“Only questions remain. That’s all I see when I look at her, the emptiness from lack of answers. I wish I could give her everything she needs, but I can’t. I can’t fill the blackness I’ve instilled in her heart. I can only alter it to something beautiful again.”

The more Dylan pushes, the more Jules seems to pull away and thus we see a dance between conflicting emotions, between two determined men. I assure you that you’ll be anxiously trying to figure out what will happen next in this drama-filled pursuit for Jules’ heart… and happily ever after.

Can’t wait to see what happens next! And for the record….

Prologue

I’m a fucking fool.

I’m not even sure how I got into this mess, but I know I need to get myself out of it. I look down at the hand on my thigh inching up higher and my stomach rolls. Squeezing out from between the tight confines of the third row in this van, a girl on each side wanting a piece of me, I fall over the seat into the cargo area and move away from their astonished stares. They’re speaking German and I don’t know what the fuck they’re saying, but I’ve been in this type of situation enough to know how it will end, if I let it.

Everything has changed… or sometime around my last birthday I changed.

I didn’t invite these chicks. Dex did. He’ll fuck’em all before the night’s through and the bad part is, they’ll let him. Thinking they’re special, that they’ll be the one to tame him. They’ll let him do what he wants just to be close to him.

Beyond this set up being predictable at this point, it’s really fucking old or I am, probably both. I ignore their taps on my shoulder and them calling my name. I ignore everything to do with them and focus on my phone.

On the inside, I’m freaking the fuck out that I’m sitting in the cargo hold of a huge van in Germany with attractive girls willing to do anything I want them to, but I prefer to look at a photo of a little blonde with hazel eyes. Freaking the fuck out might be an understatement.

I’m a player or was, supposed to be, maybe still am. I don’t keep score or anything like that, but I’ve slept with plenty of women, sometimes more than one at a time. I used to blame my lifestyle, but more recently, I realized I’m the common denominator in the bad relationships I’ve had.

The car comes to a stop and the driver rushes around to the back to let me out. I stumble while climbing out, and hurry inside away from the sound of my name being called. The girls will be upset when they realize I’m not staying to play, but Dex will be thrilled—more pussy for him.

Cory hops out from the front, and follows me. “Wait up,” he says, jogging to catch up.

When we reach the elevators, we look back. Dex is helping the girls out of the vehicle one-by-one. With a cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth, he’s sloppy, already drunk. He never lacks for female companionship. By the way he acts, I don’t see the appeal, but I don’t think that’s why they’re hooking up with him anyway.

Cory looks at me and nods once. “What’s up? What happened back there?”

The elevator doors open and we step in, pushing the button for our floor. “Over it. Over it all.”

“The girl from Vegas?”

“She’s not from Vegas, but yeah, I’ve kind of been thinking about her.”

When the brass doors reopen, we walk down the hall to our rooms. Cory and I don’t do small talk. We’ve been friends for years, best friends if I think about it.

“Maybe you should call her,” he suggests as we open our doors.

“Maybe I will.”

“Night.”

“Night,” I mumble and shut the door behind me.
