Interview with S.L. Scott

What’s your favorite love story?

  • Book: Pride & Prejudice I <3 Mr. Darcy
  • Movie: The Notebook I <3 Noah…and Ryan Gosling. hehe

If I wasn’t afraid I would _________ (What?)

  • Move my family to Paris or Hawaii. Lol Extremes, but I love them both.

Tell us about a unique or quirky habit of yours.

  • I recycle letters when I’m typing. If I rewrite a word, I try to use the letters in the new phrasing. It’s terribly time-consuming, but it becomes a puzzle, a problem to be solved.

On Saturdays, I like to…

  • Turn on either HGTV or E! and take naps. I also like to grill and enjoy the backyard on the weekends. My oldest is into skateboarding, and sometimes I take him to a skatepark and just sit and watch everyone. It’s very cool to see all the tricks.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

  • I’ve had too many, but a fairly recent one is in Vegas for a signing; the elevator doors opened up, and my heel snagged on the carpet, sending me tripping inside the elevator. I saved my cocktail, but my head almost went into a guy’s stomach. They were laughing, my friends were laughing, and I was laughing. It broke the ice needless to say. Well within a minute, we found out it was the entire group of Pentatonix. So they were taking our phones and taking selfies and taking pics with us. It was hilarious and very cool. All of that fun packed into ten flights down. Ha!

About S.L. Scott

New York Times and USA Bestselling Author, S. L. Scott, was always interested in the arts. She grew up painting, writing poetry and short stories, and wiling her days away lost in a good book and the movies.

With a degree in Journalism, she continued her love of the written word by reading American authors like Salinger and Fitzgerald. She was intrigued by their flawed characters living in picture perfect worlds, but could still debate that the worlds those characters lived in were actually the flawed ones. This dynamic of leaving the reader invested in the words, inspired Scott to start writing with emotion while interjecting an underlying passion into her own stories.

Living in the capital of Texas with her family, Scott loves traveling and avocados, beaches, and cooking with her kids. She’s obsessed with epic romances and loves a good plot twist. She dreams of seeing one of her own books made into a movie one day as well as returning to Europe. Her favorite color is blue, but she likens it more toward the sky than the emotion. Her home is filled with the welcoming symbol of the pineapple and finds surfing a challenge though she likes to think she’s a pro.

Soulful, amber eyes

A sex, drugs, and rock n’roll reputation

A body that beckoned for sin

Three years ago Rochelle Floros was living her dream come true… then lost it all. On the worst day of her life, the last person she expected to be there for her was a rock star and tabloid favorite. Now, she’s trying to rebuild her life after the tragedy that destroyed her fairytale. Slowly, she found herself captivated by a sexy, bad boy drummer she had known for years.

Rochelle was caught between the grief that shrouded her heart and the charismatic man that made it race. What she didn’t know is if he was being sincere or toying with her heart. The Redemption is about finding the pulse of your soul in the most unlikely places and giving love a chance to grow.

Can what she wants really be what she needs? With his rhythm and her passion, can they make music together? Or will their harmony be lost forever?

Excerpt

“I’m leaving tomorrow.”

Wrapping my arm around him, I ask, “Where are you going?” I know he can hear my fears, the loss of him already felt deep within.

“I’m going to my grandfather’s house for a week. My mother called a meeting. My brother will be there.”

“Would you like me to go with you?”

He kisses my forehead, then says, “I wouldn’t wish that kind of trip on an enemy. Definitely never on someone I love.”

Love. My head swims in the undertow of his words. “You say things like that so easily, like you think I won’t notice.”

That makes him laugh, which is something I love. He replies, “I’m tired of hiding my feelings, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna shout it from the rooftops just yet. I have a lot of shit to deal with that I don’t think you should be dragged into.”

“I think we’re both tired of hiding. That’s why I came over.”

Maneuvering over me, with an eyebrow wiggle, he asks, “So you’ve finally fallen for my charms, huh?”

I smile. “Your charms have been working a lot longer than you know.”

Hovering over me and with a cocky head nod, he says, “I knew I’d wear you down.”

“Oh, Mr. Caggiano, you’ve worn me out… I mean down, several times.”

Pressing his hips and his very apparent erection between my legs, he says, “And I look forward to doing it again.”

“Who knew the wild, bad boy drummer of The Resistance had the willpower of a saint? Not me.”

With a deep laugh, he says, “Me either. Just know when we’re together again, it won’t be just sex. It’ll be an unwritten contract. A promise from my heart to yours.”

My heart starts thudding in my chest and I pull him down, bringing his lips to mine and kiss him, making my own promise to him.

Prologue

I’m a fucking fool.

I’m not even sure how I got into this mess, but I know I need to get myself out of it. I look down at the hand on my thigh inching up higher and my stomach rolls. Squeezing out from between the tight confines of the third row in this van, a girl on each side wanting a piece of me, I fall over the seat into the cargo area and move away from their astonished stares. They’re speaking German and I don’t know what the fuck they’re saying, but I’ve been in this type of situation enough to know how it will end, if I let it.

Everything has changed… or sometime around my last birthday I changed.

I didn’t invite these chicks. Dex did. He’ll fuck’em all before the night’s through and the bad part is, they’ll let him. Thinking they’re special, that they’ll be the one to tame him. They’ll let him do what he wants just to be close to him.

Beyond this set up being predictable at this point, it’s really fucking old or I am, probably both. I ignore their taps on my shoulder and them calling my name. I ignore everything to do with them and focus on my phone.

On the inside, I’m freaking the fuck out that I’m sitting in the cargo hold of a huge van in Germany with attractive girls willing to do anything I want them to, but I prefer to look at a photo of a little blonde with hazel eyes. Freaking the fuck out might be an understatement.

I’m a player or was, supposed to be, maybe still am. I don’t keep score or anything like that, but I’ve slept with plenty of women, sometimes more than one at a time. I used to blame my lifestyle, but more recently, I realized I’m the common denominator in the bad relationships I’ve had.

The car comes to a stop and the driver rushes around to the back to let me out. I stumble while climbing out, and hurry inside away from the sound of my name being called. The girls will be upset when they realize I’m not staying to play, but Dex will be thrilled—more pussy for him.

Cory hops out from the front, and follows me. “Wait up,” he says, jogging to catch up.

When we reach the elevators, we look back. Dex is helping the girls out of the vehicle one-by-one. With a cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth, he’s sloppy, already drunk. He never lacks for female companionship. By the way he acts, I don’t see the appeal, but I don’t think that’s why they’re hooking up with him anyway.

Cory looks at me and nods once. “What’s up? What happened back there?”

The elevator doors open and we step in, pushing the button for our floor. “Over it. Over it all.”

“The girl from Vegas?”

“She’s not from Vegas, but yeah, I’ve kind of been thinking about her.”

When the brass doors reopen, we walk down the hall to our rooms. Cory and I don’t do small talk. We’ve been friends for years, best friends if I think about it.

“Maybe you should call her,” he suggests as we open our doors.

“Maybe I will.”

“Night.”

“Night,” I mumble and shut the door behind me.
