Synopsis

My Review
Oh sweet tension! Leisa Rayven delivers another Starcrossed story to swoon over, to make our hearts melt, to keep us furiously flipping pages with irresistible chemistry and angst. If this book was anything like Bad Romeo and Broken Juliet, I knew I’d be drawn in from the start, held captive by a romance that keeps emotions high and intense. Wicked Heart did not disappoint, it delivered in every way. With witty, sharp banter, achingly real feelings and off-the-charts sexual tension, Elissa and Liam’s story shines.
“He’s the only man who’s ever affected me like this, and it’s safe to say I hold it against him.”
When big-time Hollywood actor Liam Quinn returns to the stage alongside his actress fiancée, Elissa Holt struggled to keep it together. As the stage manager of their current production, it was up to her to make sure everything ran smoothly, but seeing her ex for the first time in six years—since he’d broken her heart—introduces a whole new level of torture.
Back then, she’d broken her rules, given him her heart, supported him as his career began to blossom. So when opportunity knocked, Liam decided to leave New York City for Los Angeles for a shot to hit it big. Fate would bring them back together, he said… and so she’d held on to dear life.
“One day, fate’s going to fix this. Bring us back together. I believe that.”
But those months away, those promises and heartfelt words vanished when he left her in the worst possible way. He had been everything to her and she’d thought he felt the same.
So she’d reinforced her heart’s armor, promised she’d never again date an actor. Felt the pain of defeat when he became engaged to his beautiful costar.

When Liam sees her again, however, his cool Hollywood façade falters inexplicably. He still had that way about him, that super-star quality that ignited her, that look, that touch that went straight to her core. Even after everything he’d done, she felt it, and before too long, that incredible chemistry they’d always had roars back to life.
“I’ve missed you, Liss. It hurts not seeing you for all those years, but this? You being right here and me not being able to have you? Hurts so much more.”
The connection between Liam and Liss crackles every time they’re together, but Liam clearly hadn’t chosen her. In a moment of weakness, however, that brutal reality fades away and Liss fears falling for him all over again. This time the stakes are higher—she could lose her job, a mistake could ruin his career, worse yet, her heart may never recover a second time around.
“Ask me to give up a limb and I swear, I’ll find a way to do it. But don’t ask me to live without you anymore. I can’t. I’m so goddamn in love with you, it hurts.”
I just loved everything about the story… so many wonderful twists. So many moments where I could barely stand the tension. So much feeling poured onto every page. Quite simply, Wicked Heart is phenomenally enjoyable—a shining example of why I love to read romance.
“You’re everything to me. You always have been.”
Series Reading Order
Wicked Heart is a standalone novel, but you can also read it as a continuation of the Starcrossed series of interconnected characters. Bad Romeo and Broken Juliet must be read together.
